Inspection

CertiBEau

In Wallonia, private water drainage and sanitary installation inspections are mandatory for building permit applications from June 2021 onwards. Both inspections are combined in the Certibeau inspection.

For the sewerage section, the drainage system of a house or building is checked up to the public domain. The first step is to check whether rainwater and waste water are correctly separated.

The inspection is carried out using a water and/or smoke test, supplemented by an administrative check of the sewerage plan and the requirements as described in the environmental permit.

The aim of the sanitary inspection is to guarantee the quality of drinking water up to your tap and to protect the public drinking water network.

During the inspection, it is checked whether the correct safety devices and non-return valves are correctly installed in the system. Connections to rainwater or other alternative water sources are also checked. It is essential that there is always a strict separation between tap water and non-potable water.

The Certibeau inspection is mandatory in the following cases:
- new construction or reconstruction;
- first use;
- major changes to your installation (new bathroom, new rainwater tank);
- reuse after closure;
- after a breach has been identified or after remedial measures have been carried out following a non-compliant inspection.

KPM guarantees a correctly performed inspection, with expert advice for any improvements.
